In my last post, I wrote about how your beliefs can stop you from sharing your best gifts in your business. Today I want to tell you a story to illustrate my point in a different way.

I had the opportunity to talk with a woman whose family immigrated to the US from Iran many years ago. Some of her family members stayed in Iran, and she had recently visited them there. She told me that her female relatives in Iran wear gorgeous clothes and accessories, have beautiful haircuts and manicured nails, and ride in expensive cars to the shops and salons they frequent.

Recently, I worked with a midlife entrepreneur whom I will call Amanda (not her real name). Amanda has spent a considerable amount of time and money in the last two years getting trained and certified as an intuitive healer in a modality called Theta Healing. She has even been trained to teach some of Theta Healing courses and has begun a website to promote her Theta Healing work.

But the problem is that Amanda has not completed her website or begun enrolling paying clients for her work. She has done a number of successful practice sessions and has a lot of evidence that her clients get great results working with her.

In my last post, I wrote about Mary’s Law of Money aka “Funny” Money, which states that

What you think about money is what you get.

I asked you to track your thoughts about money for a whole day to become aware of what you think about money. You may find a relationship between what you think and what your money life looks like.

Recently two of my dearest friends told me they walked away from their family. It was a temporary retreat, but a walk away nonetheless.

The story is that the conversation was getting heated where my friends were getting blamed for other people’s problems. So they retreated to gain some space, poise, and breathing room.

They cried, “Enough!” and acted on it.

Last week when I called my friend Whitney, I asked what she was doing.

She said, "Something has been stinking up my pantry, and I just found it! It's a package of burrito wrappers that went bad. I've thrown them away, and now everything is smelling better!"

And I thought, "Gosh, Beliefs can be just like that - they stink up the place until you dig them out and get rid of them."

To celebrate St. Patrick's Day, I went with a good friend of Irish heritage to hear the magnificent Eileen Ivers play the fiddle with her band in their show, "Beyond Bog Road", at UNC's Memorial Hall.

Behind the band a video played with beautiful images of Ireland, archival footage about the Potato Famine that had over a million Irish emigrate in the mid-1800s, home movies of families in Ireland and America, and images of American cities - so different from the rolling green hills of Ireland. Within living memory, people who left for America from Ireland were given an "American Wake" to celebrate the journey and mourn the loss of their presence in the Irish family and community.

Like many other people, the Irish left their homeland to come to the Land of Promise in America and Canada. But it was not the Land of Milk and Honey. There was lots of hard work, discrimination, violence, and hardship. The experience of those people live on in their family - in stories, family rules, and beliefs.

The friend with whom I heard the concert last night began remembering family stories her grandmother had told about coming to America. She told of religious violence between Catholics and Protestants, job discrimination, and lack of opportunity for immigrant workers. My friend's family has done well in America, but the stories of hardship still live in her memory, passed down from her beloved grandmother. She thinks , and I agree, that what her family experienced affects how she lives her life and runs her business now.

I've just facilitated a teleseminar series called "Unsticking Your Business" with a group of wonderful Conscious Entrepreneurs. During the 3 weeks of the class, each participant gained her own insights about Beliefs that are limiting her success and have resolved conflicts those Beliefs were causing in her business. Everyone is moving ahead with updated Beliefs about her business success.

One participant, whom I'll call Sally, talked about the process of becoming aware of her limiting Beliefs. Every time she talked, in my imagination I would see her walking into a dark room and bumping into big pieces of furniture - Victorian horsehair couches, elaborate coffee tables, and oversized ottomans. Hard on the shins when you can't see where you are going!

Our Beliefs can be like that - putting obstacles in our way. We can trip over a limiting Belief numerous times because we can't see it, but it's definitely there.

Day 1 - we are exploring our beliefs about Miracles and what's possible. Very evocative. We played with turning water salty and then sweet. Turning it into wine or margaritas is next!

Day 2 was very cool. We looked at WHY we believed we couldn't make water taste sweet or salty. Some very interesting answers including getting hurt or worse for using intuitive gifts. Some nice healings going on too. Feeling more steady and ready to turn that water into something else!

Day 3 - moving pens and pencils! Mine said that was my job! Then exploring beliefs about physical "reality" and our abilities. Very interesting experiences in what I am expecting and perceiving.

Day 11 - The Beautiful Skin! - Your skin reveals the health of your innards. It can heal completely and is the largest organ of your body. It communicates physically and intuitively with massive amounts of nerve endings under the skin. We worked on past events we continue to f...ocus on. I released fear about being driven in a car passenger seat. Feeling freer!

Day 12 - The Eyes - see Truth, both physically and intuitively. We worked with fears of seeing the truth. I felt my physical eyes strengthen as well as the visual cortex of my brain healing from head injury. My intuitive vision is developing as well. Just 2 more days to go!

Day 13 - The Brain - receives and perceives truth. If it is running Fear programs, guess what shows up - misperception of the truth. We can also manifest what we fear. Teacher Karen Ross helped me to release fear of accidents and the future. One more day to go of this amazing course!

Day 6 - Heart & Circulatory System. Wow! The blood carries nutrients to all parts of the body in your 75,000 miles of blood vessels! Along with nutrients, emotions are circulating. It's a really good idea to do what you can to be happy and lighten any sadness or anger in your heart. Healing of core issues continues in class. It's wonderful!

Day 7 - Lymph/Immune System = the Battle Zone! Questions today are What are you fighting? What are you fearing? Where do you have to hold battle? Wow! Big revelations about fighting = relating which I, like many others, learned at home. My Theta Healing practice buddy helped learn how to relate with peace. Feels so much betta!

Day 8 - Excretory & Repro System - no surprises here - anger, guilt, and mother issues are related to these systems. We worked on jealousy, competition and trust.
